Promethean Pen Troubleshooting
Promethean Pen Troubleshooting
I called Promethean tech support to see if I could find any additional details out on the Promethean pens and any troubleshooting tips that might be good to try.
I'm sure these are things you have already tried, but just in case...
What is the life of a pen?
That is hard to say. It really depends on what the pen has been through. A pen can last months/years with no issues. A pen can last a week if it has had a really hard life (it sounded like being dropped is the number one cause of pens breaking...there is a microchip inside the pen that can break and cause the pen not to work).
What can you try if your pen stops working?
1. Test the pen on another board.
2. Test another nib on the pen in question.
2. "Reset" the pen by pulling out the nip and putting it back in. This "resets" the pen.
What is the warranty on a pen?
1 year
If you are troubleshooting and you find that another nib works, it is possible you will need to replace the nib. I believe the pens come with a couple of replacement nibs. You guys can tell me if I'm dreaming this. You can buy nibs, but they come in packs of 100 with a price tag of $125.01. If replacing nibs becomes something common, we might need to pass the hat during a CIT meeting so that we can buy a little nest egg of extra nibs. I kid :)

The first time it is launched you will get an error message. When you RElaunch the program, the message is gone and you won't see it again.
