2013-2014 ECT TEK APPS Curriculum Timelines
This year we will start off right away with a completed set of K-5 timelines. I really need your help in checking in with your ECTs periodically to support them with this timeline. We will also be rolling out the use of Aha!Math and Aha!Science. I am working with Elementary C and I specialists to share what is available to students. I will keep you posted. It is a really awesome resource...that all schools have access to with our Learning.com subscription!
[Kinder  First  Second  Third  Fourth  Fifth]

Google Training Resources
Google Training Resources have been written by Training and Development and are available for your use. As you know, there are district offerings available for Google Apps for Education, BUT I know many of your campuses prefer to do "campus trainings" so that all of your staff is on the same page.
Google Training Resources

NTTT
Here is a quick link to the New Teacher Technology Training handout...in case you need to run a quick copy for training brand new staff. It is a really nice document you might want to share with all of your staff...a refresher of several great tips that we tend to forget :)
New Teacher Technology Training Handout

Google Tip Share
With last year being our first year to live with Google Gmail and Calendar...I know many of you have discovered "solutions" that work really well for your campus. Let's share!

2013-2014 CIT Advisory Committee Nominations
Please think about making a CIT Advisory Committee nomination. We will be creating a K-12 CIT Advisory Committee based on your nominations. This committee will come together for meetings outside of the work day throughout the year. The purpose of the committee will be to discuss, dialog, brainstorm, etc. hot topics of interest that impact the CIT.

Databases in Northside (Faye)
NOTES:
*The state is no longer funding EPSCO and Encyclopedia Britannica for public schools.
*Within the NISD Online Library Catalog, you can search specifically for eBooks.
*More and more eBooks being added to school libraries. This year's new schools opened with 300 eBooks in their collection!
*Example of an eBook on some campuses Graphing in the Desert (which can be used as part of the first grade curriculum)...ties in Science and Math.
*eBooks can be read one user at a time.
* One of our new databases this year is ProQuest. This database is "primarily" for secondary. You can select "KidQuest Magazines" to narrow your search to find kid-friendly resources.  *Note Organizer in SIRS Knowledge Source has a cool graphic organizer. The content is SECONDARY, but there is a neat graphic  organizer within for a teacher-led activity.
* World Book has a neat World of Animals comparison. This is a very cool tool for comparing animals with each other

Edubloggercon
What is an Edubloggercon?
An EduBloggercon is a self-coordinated gathering ("meet-up") of educational bloggers, timed to coincide with ed tech conferences. EduBloggerCons are about conversations that teach. Questions are asked, problems posed, experiences shared, and everyone learns.

How can netbooks be effectively integrated into the classroom and learning? (Google Doc)

How can iPod carts be effectively used on a campus when it comes to teaching and learning? (Google Doc)

How can student stations in the classroom be used most effectively? (Google Doc)

What are some innovative training ideas that will excite and inspire teachers? (Google Docs)

There is no doubt that Web 2.0 offers amazing possibilities for learning. There is also a need to ensure we are going the best job as educators that we can with following guidelines that come with some of these Web 2.0 tools. How do you use Web 2.0 tools on your campus...following guidelines and trying to allow students as much choice as possible? (Google Doc)
