Projector Bulb Replacement Procedure

Projector Bulb Replacement Procedure

Here is the procedure to help you with replacing your projector bulbs.

If your bulb is under warranty, all you need to do is submit a work order. Make sure to include all details, such as:
*room number
*projector model (Ex. Epson PowerLite 83+)
*NISD number

Some of these details are hard to locate depending on how the projector is mounted. The more info possible the better.

If bulb is NOT under warranty,  you will need to submit a work order. Make sure to include all details, such as:
*room number
*projector model (Ex. Epson PowerLite 83+)
*NISD number
*You will also want to include in the work order whether you have a bulb on your campus already OR if you would like to purchase a bulb from the central supply at tech support. This information will ensure tha tthe AV tech arrives on your campus with the correct supplies needed for your bulb replacement. If you do intend to purchase a bulb from the central supply at tech support, you can go ahead and fill out the Special Processing Request/Special Supplies Form. (see Projector Project Model and Warranty Information spreadsheet). You will submit this form electronically to SPSR@nisd.net.

NOTE: An option is to have your own campus supply of bulbs. This is entirely up to you. If you keep your own supply of bulbs, please make sure the bulb is available to the AV technician.

Additional Notes for determining warranty of your bulb...
Epson PowerLite 83+
Original bulb in the Epson PowerLite 83+ projectors are warrantied for 1500 hours or once the projector is no longer covered under warranty (see Projector Project Model and Warranty Information spreadsheet)

Epson PowerLite 84+ and Epson PowerLite 95
Original bulb in the Epson PowerLite 84+ projectors are warrantied for 2 years from the original "Installation Sign-Off Date" (see Projector Project Model and Warranty Information spreadsheet)

Disposal of old bulbs...currently the procedure is to pony the old bulb to Terry Casey, Environmental Department, Central Office. Please make sure the bulb is in a box. Please note, the disposal process is being re-looked at because of the amount of bulbs being sent to that department. As soon as I learn of an updated bulb disposal procedure, I will update this post.

2011-2012 CIT Calendar

2011-2012 CIT Calendar

This year there is one calendar for both elementary and secondary levels. Passwords are the same as last year. URL is http://odin:591/CITTime10/index.htm - please let Helen Baca (77677) know if you have any calendar related questions or password concerns.

Joyce has asked that you keep track of your integration hours for the months of October and November and again in the Spring for March and April. As you know, she reports these hours to Senior Staff. If you with to document further for your administrators, you certainly can use it throughout the entire year if you wish :)

We ask that you self-monitor instructional time spent on your campuses this year, as your positions have now been split funded, with half of the funds coming from the 65% set aside for direct student instruction. We want you to make a good faith effort in documenting some of the many ways you support technology-infused teaching and learning in Northside ISD!

Educator Laptop Responsibilities Course

Educator Laptop Responsibilities Course

Here is the Educator Laptop Responsibilities site:
http://www.nisd.net/technology/laptop_responsibilities/

Once an individual completes the course, the screen they get to verify completion looks like this...

To verify who has completed the course on a particular campus, use the following link:
http://neptune.northside.isd.tenet.edu:4044/laptopEd.nsf

Login: enumber w/ e
Password: 4 x 4 (first four of last name in caps and last four of SS)

If a CIT needs to verify more than one campus, look for the option to switch campus. You will log in the same.

Password Reminders

Password Reminders

Electronic data and computer systems are plentiful in NISD. Password security is critical to prevent security breaches that can compromise student and staff safety, the district’s ability to function, public support and legitimacy, and liability.

Please be reminded, per NISD computer access policies:

1. No sharing of passwords. Passwords and other information related to system, network, and application access are restricted to the individual and must never be shared with anyone else (e.g. supervisor, CIT, technician, secretary, etc.) .

2. Passwords should be changed at least every 120 days.

3. Passwords should be unique and not easily guessed. Passwords should not be easily accessible to others or stored near the computer.

Recommended password guidelines are as follows:

a. Minimum of 8 characters in length

b. Alphanumeric

c. Upper and lower case

IE8 and Yahooligans!

IE8 and Yahooligans

As you know, IE8 has an integrated search box in the upper right window. There was a need to determine a district-wide search engine default standard and that district-wide search engine default standard is Google.

I asked for Yahooligans! to be added to the list of search engines when IE8 was sent out to your campuses, but I failed to tell you all about this and HOW EASY it is to change your search engine default to Yahooligans! so that you had a student safe search engine at your student's finger tips :)

Per Machine:
Open IE8
Click the black delta, which is part of the integrated search box
Select Manage Search Providers
Right click on Yahooligans! and select Set As Default
Click Close

Yahooligans! is now the search engine default on that computer!

If you haven't already, this is something you will want to do on your lab computers, as well as other student stations.

Change in Procedure for AUP, FERPA, and WEB data entry (from Gerri Collier)

Change in Procedure for AUP, FERPA, and WEB data entry

Principals,

As your campus is receiving the Parent Authorization forms back, in order to reduce the amount of data entry needed, the following changes in procedure have been made.

For students enrolled to be here on the 1st day:

1) If the parent indicated Yes for all choices, no data entry is needed.

2) If the parent indicated No for AUP, enter all choices via the Parent Authorization system (Attendance Secretaries and CIT's know what this is) as soon as possible.

3) If the parent indicated Yes for AUP, but No for any FERPA item or WEB Publishing, enter those anytime between now and September 3 via the Parent Authorization system.

4) Later today, all students that have not already been flagged with a No for AUP will have a Yes for AUP record created in Region 20. That means the majority of students will have a Yes for AUP in the Gradebook, CMS, and the library system until #1 above is done. Teachers and librarians should check AUP status throughout the first two weeks of school to verify no changes in AUP status have been indicated for 1st day students.

For students that enroll AFTER the 1st day:

Data entry for AUP, FERPA, and WEB Publishing needs to be completed as soon as possible after the student enrolls either via the Parent Authorization system or directly into Region 20.

This should greatly reduce the amount of data entry that needs to be done by your staff at this time. Any data entry done up to this point will still be used and you can still have staff do all the data entry if you wish, but now another option is available to you.

This email will be sent to Attendance Secretaries, CIT's, CAT's, and Librarians. If you have designated any other staff to help out with this data entry, please notify them of this change.
