Kelly Smith Technology Center

Kelly Smith Technology Center

Trustees voted to name the new Technology Center for Kelly Smith, Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services, upon the completion of the purchase of an existing building. Smith has devoted her entire career to public education, and for the past 15 years, she’s been an administrator in the District’s Technology Services Department. Both Smith and the District have been recognized by state and national organizations numerous times for the innovative ways in which technology is integrated into the curriculum at Northside ISD. Northside ISD is the largest district in Texas and one of the largest in the nation to go completely wireless. Smith also has overseen the deployment of ceiling-mounted digital projectors and security cameras in all schools, as well as telephones in all classrooms. Altogether, Smith has provided the vision for the investment of almost $138 million in bond funds earmarked for technology. The Kelly Smith Technology Center, near DeZavala and Interstate 10, should be completed in about 14 months.

  1. She is SO deserving. We've come a long way since she joined our technology department! I remember doing webmaster training with her back when schools first started doing web pages. I remember writing TIP projects for "the binders" back in 1998. I know I've done many trainings and meetings with her since then. I sure miss her smiling face around here. HI KELLY! =0)

  2. Priscilla, my first moments with Kelly were in webmaster training as well! I can't wait to see the facility. It will be a while, but really so very exciting for NISD :)
