Glogster EDU Account Changes
I am SO bummed about the NEW Glogster EDU account changes “on the horizon” (September 15, 2011).
Here is a direct link to info about all the changes…

Also, I found more details about what will happen to the student accounts some of us already have. NOT good news

I am a Basic user. What will happen to my account?
If you choose to upgrade to Teacher Light, you will continue to enjoy your current classroom management features.
If you do not choose to upgrade, your account will automatically convert to Single Free.
If I am a Basic user now and allow my account to convert to Single Free, what will happen to my students and their work?
Your students’ accounts will convert to Single Free accounts, which will no longer be connected to your teacher account. No work will be lost. The Glogs you created will remain attached to your account, and your students’ Glogs will remain attached to their individual accounts. All data will be stored on our servers, so if you choose to upgrade to Teacher Light or Teacher Premium at a later date, all of your previous classroom connections will be restored.
So, bottom line…early adopters (us), will lose our student accounts as well

If you made 25 student accounts they will be made into 25 single accounts. So they won't be lost but they will be a lot harder to manage as you will have to log in to each one to see the glogs or have your students give you the address to each glog.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds right, Nikki. You are exactly right that the ease of moderation will be lost :( Looking forward to playing with it to see what the options are and what this really LOOKS like :)
ReplyDeleteOk. I know it has been a while...but now I have some teachers who would like to use it. Just wondering if anyone has been working with Glogster this year .
ReplyDeleteHave you created individual student accounts? (using Gaggle email accts maybe?)
Have you bought a membership of any kind?
Anyone out there even using it anymore?
Jennifer, the only person I know of (because she initiated the R-TIME for the paid Glogster if I'm not mistaken) is Nikki. You might check with her to see how they are using it :)
