Xtranormal.com NO LONGER FREE :(
I recieved a call today from an Instructional Specialist having problems saving in Xtranormal. After researching her problem, we discoverd, as of mid-December, Xtranormal.com is no longer free.
I've tried to search around and play to see if there are any free (but hidden) features...non that I can see.
Here is an article from Yahoo news announcing the change to a paid service. Bummer.
Happy New Year to All!
ReplyDeleteI would like to share my two favorite sites that keep me posted with all the changes like Xtranormal stopping the free service as well as tons of information on great sites. They are both very popular sites so you may already know of them. I subscribe to both in my Google Reader.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, Tanya :)
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI, if you go to this web page: http://xtranormal.zendesk.com/entries/197530-what-am-i-paying-for
you will find a post titled: I’m an educator. Is it true I can get a discount at Xtranormal?
Once they verify you are an educator, Xtranormal will give you 5,000 xtranormal points to use for your campus free. However, you can only have it for 1 account, generally a campus account and have all your students work off this one account.
I came up with a generic user name and password and have given it to only a few students who will be creating a movie for their class project.
Anyway, not sure how many they will approve, but it is worth a try if you really like Xtranormal and can't afford to pay for it.
This is so sad, mainly because every time we'd have to be writing out a Munis thing on it and never really know what it will cost until it's done! It would be so much better if they would just charge us the yearly flat rate and be able to do what ever we want to do....I am not sure I'd like to have a website having that much access to my credit card either! BoooHoooo!!!
ReplyDeleteSusie, I agree! This decision is definitely not in the best interest of education. Shouldn't it ALL be about the kids :)
