Texas SUCCESS in Northside
I wanted to take a moment to share something with you all called Texas SUCCESS. This is a state initiative you all might have started hearing about on your campuses. It includes access to Istation Reading and Think Through Math. Here's a little bit about Texas SUCCESS.
Texas SUCCESS provides state-funded access to interactive math and reading programs for Texas public school students in grades 3-8. These engaging and interactive online programs support students at all skill levels and, most importantly, encourage and enable progress and achievement as they move through the activities and curriculum.
The Texas Education Agency and Education Service Center, Region 20 are excited to provide access to Istation Reading and Think Through Math. Istation Reading is a computer-based adaptive learning system that provides research based reading instruction. Think Through Math is an adaptive online learning program that deepens students’ understanding of critical math concepts and problem-solving skills. (About Texas SUCCESS)
The district has started FIRST with Think Through Math.
We have just completed a two week pilot with Think Through Math at four campuses: Powell, Blattman, Los Reyes, and Ross. The pilot was VERY successful and now it is ready to roll out to all elementary and middle schools.
There will be a few campus-based staff helping to support both Texas SUCCESS programs...
On elementary campuses, School Admin Accounts will be created for Principals, Vice Principals, Math Specialists, MSDs, and CITs.
On middle school campuses, School Admin Accounts will be created for Principals, Academic Deans, and CITs.
As a School Admin for Think Through Math you will have access to help teachers add and remove students, if needed. You will also have access to view class and campus reports if you find your campus administrators are in need of assistance.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am a few steps ahead, BUT am truly learning about this along with all of you. Kuddos to the four pilot schools. Those schools did an excellent job getting kids started and excited about Think Through Math. This morning at the principals meeting I was able to hear the principals from the pilot campuses speak to their experiences so far with Think Through Math and their testimonies were really positive. I know the other principals are really excited to get this rolling on their/your campuses now :)
I wanted you to know what I communicated to elementary and middle school principals today...here is a link to that blog post.
TTM - Account Information
TTM - Best Practice
These resources will help you understand the timeline of roll out (district uploads beginning tomorrow) and other details I think are helpful. As I learn more, I will continue to share it out with you all.
Also, please know Math Specialists attended a Think Through Math overview last week during their Math Specialist meeting.
Your role will just be as an additional support person, if needed.
FYI on Istation Reading...Istation is entering a pilot stage with same campuses that piloted Think Through Math. I will keep you updated on that pilot and when it looks like that one will be rolling out as well.
Hey Dana... I noticed there are webinars that will take place all this month... 30 min and 90 min. I assume you want us to attend one or both of them? I didn't see a link to sign up...
ReplyDeleteStacey, good question. There are no requirements for attending either or any of them. The program is very simple and your math specialist most likely has enough knowledge to get your campus going. The webinars are just there for anyone...as added support. When you get your School Admin login, which I'm working on adding you guys, you will then be able to log into the system and click on those webinars to get more sign-up info...but since you aren't able to get in yet, I just wanted to be able to give you a snapshot. Does that help a bit?
ReplyDeleteFrom the information I have seen, there should be a student account upload completed by "Friday, November 15". Well Nov. 15th was Thursday and Friday is the 16th. I don't see any students when I log into either school. So, here are just a couple of questions....
ReplyDeleteShould I be seeing students in TTM?
Can/Should a teacher go in and create a class? Because one of my teachers has already done this.
Oh... one more thing.... The student log in info page says one thing, but the cards created in TTM for log in and password are totally different. Do the teachers use the cards created within TTM or their student id and password?
ReplyDeleteWill teachers be getting invitations to log into TTM? Where do the invitations come from?
ReplyDeleteStacy, teachers will get invitations from TTM. The subject line is "Invitation Email".
ReplyDeleteStacey, I'll look into this...can you give me a teacher/school example to research where you are seeing it differently?
