Head Start FAQs
email from Joyce Stevens on 9-10-2012
Hi everyone!
I received one e-mail on the topic of Head Start and some of the associated FAQs. I spoke with Julie Martinez who had some insight to the initial conversations on this topic - and how it was agreed that some of these matters would be handled by campuses and by Tech Services. I'm attempting to summarize what she shared with me below - with a "cc" to Julie to be sure I've captured it correctly. Also, Steven Diaz will be in attendance at the end of the ES CIT meeting tomorrow, so any other grey areas can most likely be addressed at that time.
1) For the campus Head Start "director" and the campus Head Start "parent advocate," active directory accounts are being created for their use - to log in under their own credentials (fsa prefix vs. e prefix). This is tied to their completion of the appropriate AUP form - which in their case would be at this link: http://www.nisd.net/cmptecww/auweb/pdf/TEC-009_Non-District-User_AUP.pdf
About 10 of 19 of these forms have been received by Tech Services - they were sent out by a lead individual in this program. If one of these two individuals doesn't have an account, they can complete this form and get it to Julie.
2) If there are additional Head Start staff on site (teachers), they will just sign the community user AUP form and can utilize PCs that auto login as student: http://www.nisd.net/cmptecww/auweb/pdf/TEC-017_Community_AUP.pdf
3) If there are repurposed PCs available, it would be reasonable for the campus to provide one to these two lead individuals. The campus does not need to provide a printer. The program does have a printer. Tech Services (under the lead of Steven Diaz) has been sending teams to install a client on the designated PCs (2) for the program. This installation will include the Child Plus Program. Do not put in a work order for this installation - instead e-mail Julie/Steven with the specifics needed - Head Start staff name, room location, NISD #.
4) It is recommended that NISD not provide campus printers - and there should be no campus expectation of providing paper or ink for the program's needs. Perhaps a few of our new campuses have been providing temporary support via an available printer - but once the new Head Start campuses have the separate Head Start phone line set up, the Head Start printer/fax machine can be set up as well, rather than the NISD resource.
