As we all come back from this year's TCEA, I know many of you are stirring with the excitement of new SKILLS and exciting IDEAS! Many of these skills and ideas you have acquired could shape the perfect Camp T.E.C.H. session to present!
With that in mind, I wanted to get the Camp T.E.C.H. 2012 presenter info out to you as soon as possible so that you could be able to start making a plan.
Camp T.E.C.H. 2012 will be June 5-7 at Stevens High School. Mark your calendars now!
As you all know, Camp T.E.C.H. has become a wildly anticipated event that Northside teachers and staff look forward to every year. We anticipate having more participants than ever! To meet these expectations, the presenter guidelines need to be a little more structured than they have been in the recent past. There will be four scheduled sessions per day, with each session being 1.5 hours in length. We are asking that all CITs plan to present four times this year. You can present individually or with one CIT (a third presenter could be a teacher you would like to collaborate with as well).
Here are some presentation models that will help you in deciding how you would like to plan your sessions to present...
"I would like to present individually."
You would present four times.
You would present a minimum of two unique sessions.
For example, you would present Session A two times and Session B two times.
"I would like to present with one partner."
You would present four times with your partner.
You would present a minimum of two unique sessions with your partner.
For example, you would present Session A two times and Session B two times.
A few other details to think about...
In an effort to help participants find the perfect session for themselves, you will also be identifying which strand, subject area, and audience BEST fits your session.
Strands (you will select the one BEST strand for your session)
Library Media
Mobile Technology
Special Populations
Teacher Productivity
Technology Applications
Technology Integration
Web 2.0 Tools
Subject Area (you will select the one BEST subject area for your session)
Cross-Curricular
English/Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Technology Applications
Audience (you will select the one BEST audience for your session)
All
PK-2
3-5
Elementary All
6-8
9-12
Secondary All
I know that many of your sessions might fall into several different strands, content areas, and audiences...selecting the BEST is the key.
We will start taking Camp T.E.C.H. session submissions on Monday, February 20 and will close Wednesday, February 29.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Dana,
ReplyDeleteCan we do Promethean Board sessions?
If I'm reading this correctly we need to present 2 different sessions this year? Instead of 1 session 4 times?
ReplyDeleteGreat! I was torn between two topics. Now I can just do each of them two times.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Am I right in assuming that I can now apply eCamp towards two of our extra days? (I will never call it Camp T.E.C.H. because my teachers always glaze over when I do and tell me they would rather go to eCamp)
Dana,
ReplyDeleteIf I have a session that's 3 hours, can I split it into Part I and II and count that for my 2 sessions (I had a split I and II session last year)
I'm sure we can figure out your unique scheduling. If you would just send me a quick email...I'll figure out the best way to get that entered for you once registration opens. It will most likely be something that we do manually. I know you do higher-level video stuff that takes more time...we can absolutely meet your needs and make a plan.
ReplyDeleteJim, this is still just ONE day. One full 6-hour day. That isn't a change. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm glad you are excited about your two sessions. I'm excited about them, too!
ReplyDeleteJan, that is correct...present two sessions 2 times each. If you pair up though...you can each present 2 times for a total of 4. Let me know if that makes sense!
ReplyDeleteMary, I don't have the complete details on what software is available. I want to tell you YES, but let me make sure what the possibilities are for having software. I think that would be a HUGE need for you to help fill. Again, I feel sure that that is completely possible. I'll follow up with you!
ReplyDeleteif we are displaced CITs will we be able to have Teacher Choice hours for presenting, since we don't have any extra duty days to cover?
ReplyDeleteAlison, I'll check to make sure exactly what hours are possible for credit. Thank you so much for asking that VERY important question :) I'll get back to you.
ReplyDeleteDoes Stevens HS have XP or Windows7?
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Judy! Windows 7.
ReplyDeleteAlison, I researched and found out that you can't get credit as a presenter. That is from the department of OSD, shared to me by Joyce.
