Hey Dana,
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the CIT meeting. It was fine with the new set up and it was nice to be able to plug in our laptops. I also could see the screen easily as their was one very close and I wasn't struggling to see the front screen. My only suggestion would be to have the presenters wear a mic. Some of the presenters were more soft spoken and thus more difficult to hear than others. I was sitting the farthest from the "front".
Great Job! I appreciate all your hard work and preparation.
Bonnie
Dana,
ReplyDeleteHere is my literature extension; a Glog book review.

We used the book trailer from Amazon during morning announcements...it leaves out the last page so it's appropriate for kids.

Great tip, Sandra! I'll share that will the afternoon group for you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful for the comment, Bonnie. I'm trying to find a mic for the afternoon group. Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!!!!! Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeletePriscilla Stubbs' Lesson Plan for Mine, All Mine: A Book About Pronouns
ReplyDeleteMake a pronoun Wordle for each type of pronoun with the type of pronoun being the biggest word.
Example:
Type "personal" and "pronoun" 10 times
Type each example 5 times:
"I me you he she him her we us they"
Use randomize or let the kids customize if you have the time.
Print as a PDF, then print a hard copy.
Book~ Friends to the End: The True Value of Friendship By Bradley Trevor Greive
ReplyDeleteExtension~ Create a StoryBird highlighting at least 5 examples of the value of friendship.
My book is the novel Savvy by Ingrid Law. THe characters in this family all have "savvy" --amazing powers or abilities. After reading, have the students take their image and upload into Picnik. Apply an effect. Have them use this new image an inspiration to write a story about what they find out their savvy is--how they initially find out and what they will do with this ability to make the world a better place.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, Kim, and I did the book Chrysanthemum. We came up with several ideas for the book.
ReplyDelete1. We could use Wordle to review vocabulary words.
2. Using Myebook to write a story about your own name.
3. Use voicethread to tell about their name.
Some Smug Slug by Pamela Duncan Edwards
ReplyDeleteRead the story aloud the first time for understanding. Pass out a "Bingo Sheet" with story element questions/stems. Some examples for the boxes I used for this story are: I made a personal connection when..., What was the setting of the story?, How did ____ character change in the story?, Describe the ____. What are his character traits?, etc. Then, students chose one bingo square and illustrated it in sumopaint.com.
My book The Sandwich Swap
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to what I have done with this book.

ReplyDeleteBook = The Art Lesson by Tomie dePaola
ReplyDeleteUsed Storybird to look for artwork depicting occupations.
Students could wirte a little about their dreams and aspirations.
They would end with their dream occupation.
Sorry... no link Storybird has yet to send my account info so I will lose the example.
