Science Court

Science Court

Hopefully, most of you have your Science Court CDs in place and being used on your campus. For those of you who are in need of a refresher or clarification, this post is for you!

There are two versions of Science Court in Northside...

Science Court (QuickTime) CD - This is the older of the Science Court versions. Our techs figured out a way to install multiple version of QuickTime to be loaded on machines. This means the Science Court (QuickTime) CD can "float," with no install needed. This became the case 01-2009. This was great news...because no longer did the software HAVE to be istalled on just one station. Grade levels and teachers had total flexibility on what stations they wanted to run the software on. Yeah!

Note: If you were migrated/deployed after 01-2009, the older version of QuickTime was added to the district loadset and you should already have it. If you find you are in need of the older QuickTime version, you can put a work order in to have it pushed to your entire campus. You would be requesting SW2009-2286 QuickTime v2.1.2.59.

Science Court (Flash) CD - This is the newer Science Court version. The Science Court (Flash) CD can "float," with no install needed. Yeah!

The SUPER news is that, with a little leg work, both versions of Science Court have solid solutions for sharing among a grade level :)

  2. Hi Sandra, I totally understand...it can be confusing. The "standard NISD loadset" now has two versions of Quicktime. You need the older one to run the old Science Court (Quicktime CDs). If you only have the newer one, you can put in a work order to get the earlier version. The NEDS group was able to figure out a way for both versions to run side by side. Does that help? Please let me know. Dana
